James "Jimmy" Earl Carter, Jr.
October 1, 1924-December 29, 2024
Term in Office: 1977-1981
Maybe this guy was just too decent to helm the Oval Office. If he considers 'lusting in your heart' a sin, there are plenty of folks who've been in that office and have needed to, or are needing to (in the case of a couple of living former presidents), do a whole heap of confessing to some pretty serious sins, and just 'lusting' in their hearts doesn't begin to cover their prurient sins. And one of those living former guys is the darling of millions of evangelical Christians who can look the other way and cover their ears when confronted with Trump's out and out lustful declarations of grabbing women by their privates.
And while that one former guy, he of orange skin and flyaway comb-over, spends all his time engaged in the Big Lie of an election 'stolen' from him, Jimmy Carter has spent his post-presidential time making the world a better place. Consider his accomplishments since losing a second term to Ronald Reagan in 1980...
Quoting an entry from www.constitutioncenter.org:
"In 1982, he founded the Carter Center, which has played an active role in human rights and disease prevention issues globally. The Carters helped publicize Habitat for Humanity, also.
"Carter received his Nobel Prize in 2002. He received the award 'for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.'
"Harry Truman was Carter's favorite President. Carter told The Guardian in 2011 that he admired Truman for not trying to profit off his presidency."
Hmm. Not profiting off the presidency? Can you imagine the Orange Man (the guy who this country chose in 2024) not wanting to profit off that office?
Peace to all, and especially to Jimmy and Rosalyn.
