Joseph R. Biden
Born: November 20, 1942
Term in Office: 2021-2025
I'll leave the comment below in place, though it was written just two years into Joe's term as president. There's much speculation as to the timing of his apparent diminished mental acuity (the disastrous performance in the one debate with Drumpf in 2024, which took many in the party of the donkey by complete surprise) while in office. I think his is a tragic story, and only hindsight in the passing of time will tell succeeding generations how good a job this seemingly decent man did as president. -Twiss, 2/27/2025)
How can one write a synopsis of a man's tenure in office (the office to which aspired for three campaigns... 1987, 2008, and 2020) while he's still fighting for his goals.
Joe has had his work cut out for him, facing huge obstacles in the forms of the country's ongoing recovery from COVID and Comrade Putin's 'military exercise' in Ukraine, not to mention opposition to some of his programs from a couple of key members of his own party. We have supply shortages and inflation, and the economy seems to be just barely avoiding recession (again, as of the date of this post).
It's easy to hang our problems on this guy's year and a half in office, but we should let his term play out before playing that blame game. That said, I am looking for some rising star in either party (no, NOT Mr. DeSantis, and God forbid the horizon is darkened again by the Orange Man – definitely not a 'rising star') to inspire in ways that Joe hasn't quite found. The 79-year-old guy's energy amazes me, but I think the country needs some youthful exuberance to rev us up. I do not think Biden should run again in 2024.
That said, I quote Republican Senator Lindsay Graham, who once said that Biden was "as good a man God ever created." I believe that.
Peace to all, and reach down deep to pull out some optimism.
